Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet contains Apixaban (2.5mg), an anticoagulant medication used to prevent and treat various blood clot-related conditions. It is commonly prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) following hip or knee replacement surgery, and to treat DVT and PE, as well as prevent their recurrence.
Apixaban works by inhibiting Factor Xa, an essential component in the blood clotting process, thereby reducing the formation of harmful clots. This medication is taken orally. Adherence to the prescribed regimen is crucial to ensure its effectiveness and minimize potential risks.
While moderate alcohol consumption may not significantly affect Apixaban's efficacy, excessive drinking can increase the risk of bleeding. It's advisable to limit alcohol intake and consult your healthcare provider for personalized guidance.
The safety of Apixaban during pregnancy has not been established. It should only be used if the potential benefits justify the potential risks to the fetus. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
It is unknown whether Apixaban passes into breast milk. Breastfeeding mothers should consult their healthcare provider to weigh the potential risks and benefits before using this medication.
Patients with severe kidney impairment may require dose adjustments, as impaired renal function can increase the risk of bleeding. Regular monitoring of kidney function is recommended.
Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet is not recommended for patients with severe liver disease due to an increased risk of bleeding. Mild to moderate liver impairment may also necessitate caution and regular monitoring.
Apixaban is not known to impair driving abilities. However, if you experience side effects like dizziness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you feel better.
Apixaban, the active ingredient in Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet, is a selective inhibitor of Factor Xa, a crucial enzyme in the coagulation cascade responsible for blood clot formation. By inhibiting Factor Xa, Apixaban decreases thrombin generation and thrombus development, effectively reducing the risk of blood clots. Unlike traditional anticoagulants, Apixaban does not require routine monitoring of blood coagulation parameters, offering a more convenient option for patients requiring anticoagulation therapy.
Atrial fibrillation is a condition characterized by an irregular and often rapid heart rhythm, which increases the risk of blood clots forming in the heart. These clots can travel to the brain, causing a stroke. Deep Vein Thrombosis occurs when blood clots form in deep veins, typically in the legs. If a clot dislodges and travels to the lungs, it leads to Pulmonary Embolism, a life-threatening condition.
Eliquis 2.5mg Tablet is a widely prescribed anticoagulant containing Apixaban, which helps prevent blood clots and strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE). It provides effective clot prevention without requiring frequent blood tests like Warfarin. Regular use, coupled with a healthy lifestyle, ensures maximum benefits with minimal side effects. Always follow your doctor’s guidance regarding dosage, interactions, and precautions.
