Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP): is a liver disorder that usually happens in the second half pregnancy. It results when the release of bile, a digestive fluid made by the liver, gets impaired. Instead, it accumulates inside the liver, which makes it hard for the liver to work properly. Depression: is a mood disorder affecting daily life, linked to various causes. Osteoarthritis: is a joint disease-causing pain and stiffness, primarily associated with aging and past injuries.
The side effects of L-Admeth are usually not very serious. These side effects include headache, nausea, and diarrhea. However, these effects are not very common.
L-Admeth has been studied extensively for depression, osteoarthritis, and depression. But, there is no conclusive evidence that it is helpful in these conditions.
Patients with bipolar disorder (an illness characterized by mood swings, from depression to mania) should not be given L-Admeth for depression as it can worsen symptoms of mania. Also, consult your doctor if you are pregnant or nursing mother, have Parkinson’s disease or if you are HIV-positive.
L-Admeth is a natural substance found in cells, tissue, and body fluids. It is produced from methionine, an amino acid containing sulfur, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The nutritional supplement is harvested from yeast (fungus) cell cultures.
Information on long term safety of L-Admeth is limited. There is one study in which patients took it for 2 years and no serious side effects were reported.
