It is an anti-progestational steroid class medicine that is used for the medical termination of early pregnancy or unwanted Pregnancy (lasting up to 70 days or less).
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Mefnil 200mg Tablet.
It is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctors advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.
It is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Mifepristone is a class of Progestin antagonists that work by blocking the effect of progesterone, a natural female hormone needed for the pregnancy to be sustained. without this hormone, the lining of the uterus breaks down as it does every month during the menstrual cycle, and the growth of pregnancy stops.
Abortion is a procedure to end a Preganancy. In first 70 days of pregnancy it is effective to cause abortion. In this embryo or foetus and placenta removed from uterus through medicine or surgery.
Mefnil contains a medicine called Mifepristone. It helps in medical termination of the pregnancy. It works by blocking the effect of progesterone (a female sex hormone) which is required for maintenance of pregnancy. It is only used to terminate a pregnancy which should not be more than 63 days old, counting from the first day of the last menstrual period.
Vaginal bleeding and abdominal cramping are the most common side effects of using Mefnil. The other common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. If you experience a very heavy vaginal bleeding or if any of these side effects bother you please consult with your gynaecologist.
Mefnil can be taken orally with a glass of water. It should be taken under the supervision of a doctor.
You may or may not experience vaginal bleeding or spotting after taking this medicine. After 48 hours of taking Mefnil, your doctor shall examine you and may prescribe you another medicine (Misoprostol) for complete termination of pregnancy. After 14 days of taking Mefnil, your gynaecologist may run some blood tests or perform ultrasonography to confirm whether the pregnancy has been terminated or not.
No, studies have shown that this medicine does not impair the fertility of the women. Your future chances of getting pregnant are as equal as of those who have not taken this medicine.
