Fluticasone ultimately reduces inflammation by inhibiting certain types of inflammatory cells and decreasing the production of inflammatory mediators. Salmeterol binds with beta 2 adrenergic receptors present in bronchial smooth muscles to relax and dilate them, making breathing easier. This dual action prevents exacerbation of asthmatic symptoms and facilitates lung function in COPD patients.
Asthma is a respiratory condition where the airways in the lungs swell and becomes narrow, causing difficulty in breathing. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder (COPD) is a group of long-term lung diseases that blocks the airflow, making it difficult to breathe.
