Introduction to Fucithalmic Viscous Eye Drop

Fucithalmic Viscous Eye Drop is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.

It may cause eye irritation and burning sensation immediately following application. However, these side effects are temporary and usually subside on their own. Inform your doctor if they persist for a longer duration. It may cause short term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines. Do not wear contact lenses while using it.

No, you need not worry. Some people may see a white powder around the eye after using Fucithalmic Viscous. It occurs when the drops dry out. It is very normal and you can wipe off the powder with a cotton swab.

What is drug resistance? Does it mean that even Fucithalmic Viscous may turn ineffective?

Sometimes the bacteria get modified in your body and the medicine stops working. This is called drug resistance. Extended or recurrent use of a medicine may increase the risk of developing resistance to that medicine. Your body may develop resistance for Fucithalmic Viscous too. Therefore, to prevent drug resistance, you should use Fucithalmic Viscous in the right amount and for the duration recommended by the doctor.

Is fusidic acid an antifungal or a steroid? What is it used for?

Fusidic acid is neither an antifungal nor a steroid. It is an antibiotic which is effective against bacteria. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the skin like impetigo (a weeping, crusty and swollen patch of skin), infected cuts and grazes and infected dermatitis (skin becomes red, slightly swollen and painful due to infection). It is also used to treat bacterial infections of eyes, including conjunctivitis (red itchy eyes).

Can I use Fucithalmic Viscous if I use contact lenses?

No, you should remove the contact lenses before using Fucithalmic Viscous. You can use your glasses instead. The microcrystalline fusidic acid may cause scratches in the contact lens or cornea. Do not use contact lenses until all symptoms of the infection have gone.

What if I accidentally spill more than the recommended drops of Fucithalmic Viscous in my eye or swallow some mistakenly?

Do not worry if you put more than the recommended number of drops or if you accidentally swallow some drops. It will not harm you. But if a larger quantity gets swallowed or spilled in your eyes and you are worried, contact your doctor for advice.

For how long is it required to use fusidic acid?

Use the Fucithalmic Viscous for the time advised by your doctor. Fucithalmic Viscous should be continued for at least 48 hours after the eye returns to normal.

What should prompt me to stop using Fucithalmic Viscous?

If you develop a severe allergic reaction after using Fucithalmic Viscous, wash the area thoroughly and do not use the medicine again. The symptoms of an allergic reaction include severe rash, difficulty in breathing, stinging or burning in the eye which does not go away, and swelling of face (especially around the eyes or eyelids). You should immediately seek medical support of your doctor or go to a nearby hospital.
