Its formulation has two main constituents Empagliflozin and Metformin. Empagliflozin reduces glucose reabsorption and increases the excretion of glucose in urine which results in decrease of glucose level in the blood. Metformin is a biguanide that works by lowering the production of glucose in the liver, delaying the absorption of glucose in the intestine, and increase the body's sensitivity to insulin.
Chronic type 2 diabetes mellitus raises blood sugar levels by interfering with the body's ability to metabolize glucose, or blood sugar. It happens when the pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin or when the body develops an immunity to insulin.
