Minirin melt 120mcg tablets contain the active ingredient desmopressin acetate hydrate. It is used in the treatment of vasopressin-sensitive cranial diabetes insipidus. Vasopressin sensitive means the disease is sensitive to the hormone Vasopressin and can be treated with Desmopressin.
It works by causing reabsorption of water from the kidneys which controls excessive thirst and urination in diabetes insipidus. It also helps decrease night-time urine production and bedwetting in children.
Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you should take them. You should use it regularly to get the most benefit from the medicine. Do not stop using the medicine even if you feel better unless the doctor tells you so.
Your doctor may monitor your blood glucose regularly while on treatment with this medicine.
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet.
Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby however, there are limited human studies.
Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Minirin Melt 120mcg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
