Pregabalin relieves nerve pain by attaching itself to a particular location on voltage-gated calcium channels. Amitriptyline inhibits the activity of pain receptors by raising serotonin and noradrenaline levels. Amitriptyline and pregabalin work well together to relieve neuropathic pain.
Neuropathic pain: Damage to the sensory nerves is the source of neuropathic pain. It is brought on by either an accident or infection, or it is a chronic, degenerative nerve disease. The pain, which feels like prickling, stabbing, tingling, or burning, may be sporadic or constant. Along with lack of sensation, neuropathic pain frequently causes numbness. With neuropathic pain, the body produces pain signals on its own initiative rather than in response to an injury, as is the case with other types of pain.
