Xoten C 10mg/75mg Capsule is a combination medication containing Rosuvastatin (10mg) and Clopidogrel (75mg). It is primarily prescribed to lower cholesterol levels and prevent blood clots, thereby reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Rosuvastatin is a statin that reduces the production of cholesterol in the liver, while Clopidogrel is an antiplatelet agent that prevents platelets from clumping together.
Xoten C should be used with caution in patients with liver disease as Rosuvastatin can affect liver function. Regular liver function tests (LFTs) may be required. If you experience yellowing of skin/eyes (jaundice), dark urine, or persistent nausea, inform your doctor immediately. Avoid alcohol as it can further increase the risk of liver damage.
Patients with kidney disease should use Xoten C cautiously as Rosuvastatin can increase the risk of protein loss in urine (proteinuria) or kidney damage. Dose adjustments may be needed in case of severe kidney impairment. If you notice swelling in legs, reduced urination, or unexplained fatigue, seek medical attention.
Avoid alcohol while taking Xoten C as it can increase the risk of liver damage and stomach bleeding. Alcohol can also worsen muscle pain caused by Rosuvastatin. Excessive drinking may reduce the effectiveness of Clopidogrel, increasing the risk of blood clots.
Xoten C does not directly impair driving ability, but it can cause dizziness, headache, or blurred vision in some individuals. If you feel lightheaded or drowsy, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.
Not safe during pregnancy. Rosuvastatin can cause serious harm to the unborn baby by affecting cholesterol metabolism. Women of childbearing age should use effective contraception while on this medication. If you become pregnant, stop taking Xoten C immediately and consult your doctor.
Not recommended while breastfeeding as Rosuvastatin may pass into breast milk and harm the baby. Consult your doctor for alternative medications if needed.
Rosuvastatin: This statin inhibits an enzyme in the liver responsible for cholesterol production, effectively lowering "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing "good" HDL cholesterol. Clopidogrel: As an antiplatelet agent, Clopidogrel prevents platelets from aggregating, reducing the formation of harmful blood clots that can lead to heart attacks or strokes.
Atherosclerosis: A condition where arteries narrow due to plaque buildup, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Hyperlipidemia: Elevated levels of lipids in the blood, which can lead to cardiovascular diseases.
