To treat benign prostatic hypertrophy, alfuzosin is a nonselective alpha-1 adrenergic antagonist applied topically. Alfuzosin is linked to a low incidence of momentary rises in serum aminotransferase levels and a rare occurrence of acute liver injury that is clinically noticeable.
It works by blocking receptors on the bladder, urethra, and prostate gland (urinary pipe). When ALFUZOSIN relaxes the muscles of the bladder and prostate, the urethra doesn't narrow as much.
- When taking medicine, Do not chew or break the medication; instead, swallow it whole together with water.
- Follow the instructions provided in the label.
- Consult your doctor for dose and duration.
- Tell your doctor that you take it, if you have any upcoming procedure that calls for a general anesthetic.
- It is recommended to regularly check blood pressure when using this medicine, particularly during the initial phases of the medication.
- Benign prostatic hypertrophy symptoms are managed with this medicine.
