Azee 500mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, skin infections, ear infections, throat infections, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It contains Azithromycin (500mg), which belongs to the macrolide antibiotic class and works by stopping bacterial growth.
Azithromycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and binds to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, preventing bacterial growth and replication. Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, stopping bacterial multiplication. Kills a wide range of bacteria, treating various bacterial infections. Has a long half-life, allowing once-daily dosing for short treatment durations.
- Dosage: Common infections: One tablet (500mg) once daily for 3 days or as prescribed. Severe infections: Initial dose of 1000mg on day 1, followed by 500mg once daily for 2-5 days.
- Administration: Take Azee 500mg tablet 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal for better absorption. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.
- Duration: Complete the full course to prevent antibiotic resistance, even if symptoms improve.
- Do not take with antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as they reduce absorption.
- Avoid in severe liver disease, as it may affect drug metabolism.
- Use Azee 500mg tablet with caution in heart patients, as it may cause irregular heartbeat (QT prolongation).
- Not recommended for viral infections, such as colds or flu.

- Short-course therapy (3-5 days) for most infections, improving patient compliance.
