Introduction to Bitoma Eye Drop

Bitoma Eye Drop is suitable for adults and children and can be used by itself or in combination with other eye medicines to reduce pressure. Follow the instructions given by your doctor and use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit. If you stop using it, pressure in the eye could increase and damage your sight. Never use a bottle if the seal is broken before you use it for the first time. Make sure you remove contact lenses if you wear them and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back.

The most common side effects of this medicine include conjunctival hyperemia and eye itching. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor. They may be able to tell you ways of reducing or preventing some side effects or suggest another treatment. If your vision is blurred or you have other changes in sight for a time, do not drive until your vision is clear. This is usually a short term side effect.

How Bitoma Eye Drop works

Bitoma Eye Drop is a prostaglandin analogue. It works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor, thereby lowering the increased eye pressure.

How To Use Bitoma Eye Drop

  • This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

How long does Bitoma take for eyelash growth?

It may take about 4 weeks to see an improvement, whereas the full effect may appear after about 16 weeks. However, if you do not use it regularly, then it may take a little longer.

Why should contact lenses be removed before applying Bitoma?

It is recommended to remove the contact lenses before applying Bitoma. It is because Bitoma contains benzalkonium chloride which may get absorbed by the contact lenses and discolor them. The contact lenses can be re-inserted 15 minutes after you have applied the medicine.

What happens if I stop using Bitoma?

If you stop using Bitoma, the eyelashes may return to their previous appearance after several weeks or months. In case you have developed any eyelid skin darkening, it may reverse after several weeks or months. However, any change in the color of the iris is permanent and will not reverse.

When to seek doctor’s advice while using Bitoma?

Contact your doctor immediately if you have or have recently had any eye infection, injury, conjunctivitis, eye surgery, or an eyelid reaction. Discuss with your doctor on how long you have to continue using Bitoma.

Can I use other eye drops along with Bitoma?

If you have to use other eye drops, wait for at least 5 minutes before using them. You should inform your doctor if you are using any other medicine too as it may interfere with the working of Bitoma.

How do you apply Bitoma for eyelash growth?

Bitoma is recommended to be used once every night. It should be applied to the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of eyelashes. The face should be clean and any makeup should be removed. It should not be applied to the lower eyelid. Use a tissue paper to blot away any excess solution or other absorbent material outside the upper eyelid margin.

Does Bitoma work on eyebrows?

No, Bitoma is not made for the growth of eyebrows. This medicine is used to treat hypotrichosis (less than normal amount of hair) of the eyelashes. It promotes the growth of longer, thicker and darker eyelashes.
