Butesone Cream is a steroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy.
Butesone is a topical steroid which needs to be applied locally on the affected part. It is a moderately strong steroid. The chances of immunity suppression with Butesone is lesser as compared to other steroids like clobetasol and betamethasone when applied to the skin. Do consult your physician before you start this medication.
Yes, clobetasol and Butesone are different steroid medications. Clobetasol is a very potent (strong) steroid whereas Butesone is comparatively milder and has been categorized under moderately potent steroids.
Butesone is applied on the skin for the treatment of various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. It effectively relieves the inflammation and itchiness of the skin. Unlike other medicines, Butesone shows minimal suppression of the bodys immunity. However, it would be best to consult your doctor before using Butesone.
Before using Butesone, clean and dry the affected area. Gently and thoroughly massage it into the skin. Be careful not to get the medication in your eyes or mouth. If Butesone gets in your eyes accidentally, wash with plenty of water and call your doctor if your eyes are irritated.
The use of Butesone is usually not recommended in children less than 12 years of age. It should only be used if advised by the doctor. Doctors often prescribe this medicine for the treatment of dermatoses (skin infections) in children. The duration of this therapy does not normally exceed 7 days. If your condition worsens or does not improve within 7 days, consult the doctor.
