This pharmaceutical preparation is prepared by combining two medicines: Imipenem and Cilastatin. Imipenem antibiotics retard the growth of bacteria by preventing the formation of the protective covering that supports their survival. Cilastatin inhibits dehydropeptidase 1 enzyme which is responsible for the breakdown of Imipenem. This aspect helps Imipenem to stay in the body for a longer time.
