Introduction to EMRAB 10 MG TABLET

EMRAB 10 MG TABLET is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity that may be seen with the prolonged use of pain-killers. It belongs to a class of medicines known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). This medicine should be taken one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning. The dose will depend on your underlying condition and how you respond to the medicine. Try to take it regularly at the same time each day as advised by your doctor. You should keep on taking it as prescribed even if your symptoms disappear quickly. You may be able to help improve your symptoms by eating smaller meals more often and avoiding caffeinated drinks like tea and coffee, and spicy or fatty foods.

The most common side effects that may be seen with this medicine include nausea, vomiting headache, dizziness, flatulence, diarrhea, and stomach pain. These tend to be mild but talk to your doctor if they bother you or do not go away. The risk of side effects may increase the longer you take this medicine. Long-term use (more than 1 year) may increase your risk for bone fractures, especially with higher doses. Talk to your doctor about ways to prevent bone loss (osteoporosis), like taking calcium and vitamin D supplements.

Low blood magnesium levels (hypomagnesemia) have been seen in some people taking this medicine for 3 months or more. This may lead to tiredness, confusion, dizziness, muscle twitches, and an irregular heartbeat. Your doctor may monitor your magnesium levels to prevent this.

EMRAB 10 MG TABLET is not suitable for some people. Before taking this medicine, you need to tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems, are taking medicines for HIV, have ever had an allergic reaction to similar medicines in the past or suffer from bone loss (osteoporosis). Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Avoid drinking alcohol as it makes your stomach produce excessive acid and can worsen your symptoms. Do not drive or use machinery or tools, if this medicine makes you feel dizzy or sleepy.

How EMRAB 10 MG TABLET works

EMRAB 10 MG TABLET is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. EMRAB 10 MG TABLET is to be taken empty stomach.

What are the long-term side effects of Emrab?

If Emrab is used for more than 3 months, certain long term side effects may be seen. The most important of these is low magnesium levels in your blood which may make you feel tired, confused, dizzy, shaky or dizzy. You may also have muscle twitches or irregular heartbeat. If the use is further prolonged for more than a year, you may have an increased risk of bone fractures, stomach infections and vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 deficiency can make you anemic, as a result of which you may feel more tired, weak, or pale. Additionally you may have palpitations, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, indigestion, loss of appetite, flatulence (gas) or nerve problems such as numbness, tingling and problem in walking.

How long does it take for Emrab to start working?

Emrab starts working within an hour of taking it and shows maximum benefit within two to four hours. You should start feeling better within 2 to 3 days but it may take upto 4 weeks to relieve your symptoms significantly.

My acidity and indigestion have been relieved after two days of Emrab. Can I stop taking it now?

No, do not stop taking Emrab before completing the full course of treatment. You will start to feel better before your treatment is complete.

Can I take alcohol with Emrab?

You should avoid spicy and fatty foods while taking this Emrab. Cut down on caffeinated drinks such as tea, coffee and cola. Alcohol intake should also be avoided as it may worsen your symptoms.

Consult your doctor right away if you develop decreased urination, edema (swelling due to fluid retention), lower back pain, nausea, fatigue, and rash or fever. These could be signs of a kidney problem. You may have severe diarrhea due to an intestinal infection caused by a microorganism known as clostridium difficile. If you notice persistent watery stools, stomach pain or fever, please contact your doctor immediately. What is Emrab used for?

Emrab is used for the treatment of stomach and intestinal ulcers (gastric and duodenal ulcers), reflux esophagitis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It works by reducing the amount of acid made by your stomach and thus relieves your symptoms. Emrab also prevents acidity associated with use of painkillers and stress ulcers in critically ill people. It is also used to treat a disease associated with excessive acid production in the stomach known as Zollinger Ellison syndrome (ZES).

Can I take Emrab with antacids?

Yes, you can take antacids along with Emrab. Take it 2 hours before or after you take Emrab.
