Erycin Gel is meant for external use only. It should be applied only to the affected area of the skin as per the dosage and schedule prescribed by your doctor. In order to get the most benefit, apply it regularly and preferably at a fixed time each day. Do not use larger amounts or apply it more often or for a longer duration than directed. This will only increase the risk of side effects. You may have to use it for a long time before your acne starts to improve. Be patient and keep using it every day.
This medicine is generally safe to use with minimal side effects such as peeling of skin, redness, dry skin, irritation, itching, stinging and burning sensation, etc. Consult your doctor if these persist or if your condition does not improve.
Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the medicine in these areas. If Erycin does not help me with acne, can I use clindamycin?
If you have already used Erycin, antibiotics of the same class (macrolides), clindamycin and lincomycin may also not work. This could be because of drug resistance. In this, the bacteria gets modified in your body and medicines may not able to treat the new modified form.
What if I forget to apply Erycin?
Try not to forget to use Erycin, as missing an application will slow down the healing process. However, if you have missed an application, use Erycin as soon as you remember, but a gap of about three hours is required before you use it again.
How should Erycin be stored?
Store it in a cool dry place below 25 degrees centigrade. Some of the preparations may contain alcohol, which are flammable, and therefore should be kept away from high temperatures.
