Once-a-day KOMBIGLYZE XR must be taken as prescribed. KOMBIGLYZE XR is generally taken once a day with your evening meal to help lessen an upset stomach side effect. Swallow the tablets whole—dont crush, cut, or chew them, and dont change your dose without speaking with your healthcare provider.

Kombiglyze XR works by lowering the amount of sugar made by your liver, decreasing the amount of sugar absorbed by your intestine, increasing the amount of insulin your body makes, and helps your body respond better to insulin.

Kombiglyze (metformin / saxagliptin) works well to lower blood sugar, but may not be a good option if you have heart or kidney problems. Combines two anti-diabetic medicines for convenient once daily dosing. Does not cause weight gain unlike insulin therapy.

Kombiglyze XR (saxagliptin and metformin hydrochloride) Extended-release Tablets is a combination drug indicated, along with diet and exercise, as a treatment for type 2 diabetes in adults.

Standard metformin is taken two or three times per day. Be sure to take it with meals to reduce the stomach and bowel side effects that can occur – most people take metformin with breakfast and dinner. Extended-release metformin is taken once a day and should be taken at night, with dinner.

Take KOMBIGLYZE XR during or immediately after food in the evening. This will reduce the chance of a stomach upset. KOMBIGLYZE XR should be taken at approximately the same time each day. Taking your tablets at the same time each day will have the best effect.
