Lacotide 100mg Tablet 10s is a prescription medicine which is used in the treatment of epilepsy. It controls seizures (more commonly known as fits) by decreasing the abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. 

Lacoford 100mg Tablet works by inactivating the sodium gated channels, which reduces the abnormal activity of brain cells. It thus treats epilepsy by controlling the seizures or fits.

  • Take the dose and maintain the frequency following the advice of a healthcare professional.
  • The entire medicine can be consumed as a whole without breaking, chewing or crushing it.
  • Take the drug before or after having a meal.

  • Before taking this medication inform your doctor about any disease history associated with liver or kidney as well as heart or gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Avoid driving as it may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy.

  • Prevent various kind of seizures in epilepsy.

Is it safe to drive if I am taking Lacotide?

No, you need to be careful while driving or operating heavy machinery until and unless you know how Lacotide affects you. You may experience dizziness or drowsiness and blurred vision, especially during the initial days of treatment. These side effects can also be observed if the dose is increased.

For how long do I need to continue Lacotide?

Lacotide is generally prescribed for long-term use. Keep taking the medicine as advised by your doctor’s advice. However, if you experience any bothersome side effects, talk to your doctor.

I have been taking Lacotide since nine months and haven’t had any seizures till now. Can I stop taking it now?

No, you should not stop taking Lacotide even if you start feeling better. Stopping this medicine suddenly may lead to seizures which can be difficult to control. Consult your doctor if you experience any problems while being on treatment with Lacotide. The doctor may adjust the dose or gradually reduce the dose.

What if somebody takes excess of Lacotide?

Excess of Lacotide may cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, shock, heart problems and even coma. If such a situation arises, seek emergency medical support in a nearby hospital.

Is it safe to take Lacotide if I am on Ritonavir therapy?

Be cautious if you are taking Lacotide while on Ritonavir therapy. It is advised to inform your doctor before starting Lacotide. This is because if you are taking Ritonavir for liver or kidney problems then the dose of Lacotide should be modified or reduced.

What should I do if I forget a dose of Lacotide?

If you miss a dose of Lacotide within 6 hours of the scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if you have forgotten to take the dose for more than 6 hours of the scheduled time then skip the dose and take the next one as scheduled. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose.

Does Lacotide have any effect on fertility?

Lacotide has not been reported to affect fertility in males or females. However, if you are concerned, consult the doctor.

Is Lacotide a habit-forming medicine?

No, Lacotide is not habit forming. There are no reports which suggest occurrence of withdrawal symptoms following its discontinuation. Lacotide may cause euphoria (patients may feel extremely happy and overwhelmed) in some individuals who may then take it merely for fun (drug abuse). It is possible that such individuals may become psychologically dependent on this medicine.

Can I take Lacotide if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Though no potential side effects have been reported with the use of Lacotide during pregnancy and breastfeeding, it is best to avoid Lacotide during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
