ACYCLOVIR is a member of a class of antiviral drugs used to treat viral infections, including genital herpes, a common sexually transmitted disease characterized by genital pain and sores, cold sores, an inflamed blister in or near the mouth, and herpes zoster, a viral infection that causes a painful rash.

How Lovir 200mg Tablet works

Synthetic nucleoside analogs are a class of antiviral drugs that include acyclovir. It functions by preventing the herpes virus from spreading throughout the body. Acyclovir may not prevent genital herpes from spreading to other people and won't treat genital herpes.

  • It should be swallowed whole with water; do not chew, break, or crush it.

Lovir is an antiviral medicine effective against herpes simplex and varicella zoster viruses. What are the serious side effects of Lovir?

Hair loss is an uncommon side effect of Lovir. It stops when the medicine is discontinued.

What can happen if somebody takes more than the recommended dose of Lovir accidentally?

Accidental, repeated overdoses of oral Lovir over several days have resulted in nausea, vomiting, confusion and headache. Consult your doctor in case of overdose.

Can I get resistant to Lovir treatment?

Patients with advanced HIV disease or patients with an impaired immunity have reported resistance to Lovir. If you are not responding to Lovir, possibility of drug resistance should be checked.
