I started taking Rancad about a week ago. Now I have noticed that my urine has become very dark though I am taking plenty of fluids. Is there anything to worry about?

Urine discoloration could be because of Rancad. You need not worry if you do not have any other symptoms. However, if it still bothers you, you can talk to your doctor who will advise you further.

I have been taking simvastatin to keep my cholesterol levels in check. Can I take Rancad with it?

It is recommended not to take simvastatin and Rancad together because it may cause simvastatin toxicity which may lead to symptoms like muscle weakness and soreness, fatigue, decreased urination, etc. Let your doctor know that you are already taking simvastatin. If it is still necessary to take, then take it exactly as advised by the doctor.

I am a diabetic and am taking metformin. My doctor has prescribed Rancad, is it safe to take both together?

If you are taking metformin along with Rancad, you have to be careful since Rancad may increase the levels of metformin in the body which can lead to metformin toxicity. Talk to your doctor who will modify the dose of metformin.

What are the serious side effects of Rancad?

Rancad may cause changes in electrical activity of heart which is known as QT prolongation. Your doctor may get regular tests done to check the electrical activity of your heart. Tell your doctor right away if you feel faint, lightheaded or if your heart starts beating irregularly or fast, as these may be symptoms of QT prolongation. Rancad may also cause kidney failure in patients who already have kidney problems. Therefore, your doctor may need to do tests to check how your kidneys are working.

In case I accidentally take excess of Rancad, what will happen?

Excess of Rancad can cause nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, double vision, tiredness, severe tremor, confusion, hallucinations, difficulty in speaking and walking and you can even faint. If you have taken excess of Rancad by mistake, call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical care in a nearby hospital.

Is it safe to take Rancad if I am already taking metoprolol?

Yes, it is safe to take the Rancad and Metoprolol together. Rancad has minimal effect on blood pressure in patients of angina.
