Its used to treat malaria, a serious illness caused by parasites transmitted through mosquito bites.
It works by increasing levels of a substance called haeme in the blood, which is toxic to the malaria parasite. This kills the parasite and stops the infection from spreading.
Take it with food to reduce the risk of stomach upset. Do not skip doses and complete the full treatment course. Take measures to prevent mosquito bites, like using repellents.
Inform your doctor about your medical history and drugs youre taking. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar regularly. Regular eye examinations may be needed as it can affect vision.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with this drug. Please consult your doctor.
If pregnant, consult your doctor before use.
Its probably safe during breastfeeding if prescribed.
Avoid driving if it affects your vision or causes dizziness.
