Sompraz D 40 Capsule SR is a combination medicine used to treat acid reflux (GERD), heartburn, peptic ulcers, and indigestion. It contains Esomeprazole (40mg), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid, and Domperidone (30mg), a prokinetic agent that prevents nausea and enhances digestion.

How Somtax-DSR Capsule works

Esomeprazole blocks stomach acid production, providing relief from acid reflux and ulcers. Domperidone enhances stomach emptying, reducing bloating, nausea, and discomfort. Together, they relieve GERD, prevent ulcers, and improve digestion.

How To Use Somtax-DSR Capsule

  • Dosage: One capsule daily, or as prescribed. Dose adjustments may be needed for patients with liver or kidney conditions.
  • Administration: Take before meals, preferably in the morning. Swallow whole with water; do not chew or crush.

Somtax-D is a combination of two medicines: Domperidone and Esomeprazole. The use of Somtax-D is considered to be harmful for patients with a known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole or domperidone or any other inactive ingredients of the medicine. Caution is advised in patients with underlying kidney or liver disease.

It is best to take Somtax-D before the first meal of the day or on an empty stomach.

Can the use of Somtax-D cause abnormal heartbeat?

Yes, the use of Somtax-D can increase the risk of irregular heartbeat (serious arrhythmias). This is a serious side effect but the chance that it may happen is very low. The risk may be slightly higher in those who are more than 60 years of age.

Can the use of Somtax-D cause dry mouth?

Yes, the use of Somtax-D can cause dry mouth. Dryness of mouth occurs due to Domperidone. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips of water during the day and keep some water on your bedside at night. Cut down the intake of alcohol and avoid smoking. If you have dry mouth, try to use alcohol-free mouthwash as its use can increase the risk of tooth decay.
