What if I forget to take Sotagard?

If you forget a dose of Sotagard take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose for a forgotten dose. Do not stop taking Sotagard without consulting your doctor. This is because, sudden discontinuation of the medicine may cause recurrence of irregular rhythm of heart or may be worse which can be dangerous.

Can Sotagard cause dizziness? How do I prevent it?

Yes. Sotagard can cause dizziness as a side effect. If this happens to you, you should sit or lie down until the symptoms pass. However, this is temporary and usually goes away as the treatment continues. Also, you should avoid alcohol while taking it, as it may worsen the dizziness.

How should Sotagard be taken?

Sotagard should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually, it is taken once or twice daily with or without food. It is to be swallowed whole with water and not to be cut or crushed.

The warning signals of liver toxicity include yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), tiredness, nausea, vomiting, dark-colored urine, pale-colored stools, loss of appetite, stomach pain or high temperature. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.

You may experience blurred vision or see a circle around dazzling light (halos). It may also make your eyes dry or sensitive to light. It can even cause permanent blindness. Therefore, consult your doctor in case you experience any such problems while on Sotagard.
