It belongs to the class of drugs known as antimicrobial agents, anti amoebic agents and anti flatulent. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria and parasites, specifically targeting amoebiasis.
Metronidazole fights against bacteria and parasites, effectively treating various infections. Diloxanide targets amoebas, eliminating them from the body. Activated Dimethicone/Simethicone acts as an anti flatulent, relieving gas-related discomfort.

Sprot Plus 100 mg/125 mg/50 mg Suspension is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, diloxanide and simethicone. Metronidazole is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Diloxanide is combined with metronidazole in case of severe intestinal infections. Diloxanide is a luminal amoebicide which acts inside the intestines to kill the infection-causing microorganisms (amoeba). Simethicone is an antifoaming medicine which disintegrates gas bubbles and allows easy passage of gas.
