Ultracet Tablet is a combination medication containing Paracetamol (325 mg) and Tramadol (37.5 mg). It is commonly prescribed for the relief of moderate to severe pain resulting from various conditions such as muscle injuries, sprains, strains, and post-operative discomfort. This medication leverages the synergistic effects of its components to provide effective pain relief.
Ultracet works through its two active ingredients: Tramadol: A centrally acting opioid-like analgesic that alters the way the brain and nervous system respond to pain. Acetaminophen: A non-opioid pain reliever that works by blocking pain signals in the brain and reducing fever. Together, these ingredients provide both fast and long-lasting pain relief, targeting pain from multiple pathways in the body.
- Dosage: The usual dose for adults is one tablet every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain relief. Do not exceed 8 tablets within 24 hours.
- Administration: Take the tablet with or without food, and swallow it whole. Do not crush or chew the tablet, as it can release the drug too quickly, increasing the risk of side effects.
- Important Note: Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage and frequency. Do not take more than prescribed to avoid serious side effects or dependency.
- Liver/Kidney Disease: If you have a history of liver or kidney problems, consult your doctor for proper dose adjustments.
- Allergies: Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Ultracet.
- Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: Ultracet should only be used during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. It is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers, as it can pass into breast milk.
- Dependency: Tramadol can cause physical dependency if used for long periods. Only use Ultracet as prescribed to avoid misuse or dependency.
- Ultracet tablet is useful in the relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation
- It also inhibits chemical messengers that provide a feeling of pain
- Common Side Effects: Dizziness, nausea, constipation, headache, and drowsiness.
- Serious Side Effects: Seizures, trouble breathing, severe allergic reactions, liver damage (from acetaminophen overdose), or signs of dependency.
- Less Common: Anxiety, sweating, or urinary retention.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it's close to the time for your next dose.
- In that case, skip the missed dose—do not take two doses at once.
