The use of Tendia M does not usually cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) on its own. But, it could occur if there is insufficient supplementation of calories while taking this medicine. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include nausea, headache, irritability, hunger, sweating, dizziness, fast heart rate, and feeling anxious or shaky. The symptoms are more likely to be noticed if you miss or delay your food, drink alcohol, over-exercise or take any other antidiabetic medicine along with it. Hence, regular monitoring of blood sugar level is important. It is recommended to always carry glucose tablets, honey or fruit juice with you.
Teneligliptin is eliminated via excretion with a half-life of 24.2 hours in human plasma from the kidney and metabolism involving certain enzymes. Hence, dose adjustment is not required in patients with renal impairment.
However, teneligliptin is neither approved in the USA or in Europe although it was registered in the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Phase 1 clinical development in 2007 and Phase 2 clinical developments in European Medicines Agency in 2009, without any further progress.
