Introduction to

Xyloplus Ointment works by temporarily numbing the skin and surrounding area. It should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. This medicine is for external use only. Make sure that the affected area is clean and dry before applying this medicine. Apply a thin layer and rub it gently to form a layer of about 2-3mm. After that, apply an occlusive dressing to protect the area. Keep the dressing for a minimum of 2 hours before any scheduled treatment or surgery. Avoid getting it into your eyes or mouth. If accidental exposure occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

The most common side effects of this medicine include application site reactions like a burning sensation, irritation, itching, redness, and rashes. However, these are usually temporary and resolve on their own. Please consult your doctor if these do not go away or bother you for a longer duration.

Xyloplus Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Prilocaine and Lidocaine/Lignocaine. It works by blocking pain signals from the nerves of the affected area to t he brain. This decreases the sensation of pain.

How do you use Xyloplus?

Xyloplus should be applied to the skin for at least 1 hour before the start of a routine procedure (needle insertion). Maintain a gap of at least 2 hours before the start of a painful procedure (minor surgical procedure). Apply pressure bandage on the top to give an even distribution of cream and protect the area. When applied to the genital mucosa, a thick layer of Xyloplus is applied to the skin surface for 15 minutes, before giving local anesthetic injection. Your doctor will advise the exact duration to apply the cream.

How long does Xyloplus last for?

The effect of numbness after application of Xyloplus is expected to be upto 3 hours under pressure dressing and may persist for 1 to 2 hours after removal of the cream.

What is Xyloplus used for?

Xyloplus is a combination of two local anesthetics, prilocaine and lidocaine. It is used to numb the surface of the intact skin before needle insertion or minor superficial surgical procedures. In addition, when applied to genital mucosa (inner membrane of private parts) it provides numbness, thereby preventing any pain while instilling the injection.

Can Xyloplus be used on open wounds?

No, Xyloplus must used on unbroken skin and the genital area. Do not apply to open wounds or broken skin unless directed by your doctor.
