Introduction to Diatin Syrup

Diatin Syrup is a prescription medicine that can be taken with or without food. Take the medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The treatment must be completed even if you feel better.

How Diatin Syrup works

Diatin Syrup is a combination of two antibiotics: Norfloxacin and Tinidazole. Norfloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Tinidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

This may indicate that you have a tendon rupture.

What is Diatin?

Diatin is a combination of two medicines: Norfloxacin and Tinidazole. This medication is used to treat diarrhea caused due to infection. They work by killing the harmful microorganisms that cause infection. Together they help to treat infection more effectively.

What if I dont get better after using Diatin?

Inform your doctor if you dont feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.

What if I miss my dose?

Take Diatin as soon as you remember it. However, do not take it if its almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.

Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Diatin?

The use of Diatin is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to norfloxacin or tinidazole or any other excipient present in the medicine. It should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of tendinitis (inflammation of the tendons) or tendon rupture caused because of the use of ciprofloxacin or any other medicine which belongs to the quinolone group of antimicrobial agents. It is also avoided in patients with some neurological disorders.

Can I take ORS solution with Diatin?

Yes, you can take ORS (oral rehydration salts) with Diatin. ORS is a special combination of dry salts that is mixed with clean drinking water. It can help restore the fluids lost due to diarrhea. ORS packets or solution can be availed from the nearest pharmacy, shop or from our website.

Can I take a higher than the recommended dose of this medicine?

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Diatin can lead to increased side effects. Diatin takes time to show its full effect and treat your infection. If you are experiencing increased severity of diarrhea which is not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Can I stop taking Diatin when I feel better?

Can I drink alcohol while taking Diatin?

No, avoid drinking alcohol while taking Diatin and for at least 3 days after the dosage is completed. Drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may cause an unpleasant reaction (Disulfuram like reaction) with symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing or redness of the face.

No, do not stop taking Diatin and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Can the use of Diatin cause metallic taste?

Yes, Diatin can cause a temporary metallic taste. This metallic taste can be reduced by chewing sugar-free gum or mints, brushing teeth after the meals and by staying hydrated.
